26 Characters many based on historical record + some fictional.
We workshopped this very successfully a couple of years ago for a season at the Rose Theatre Auckland.
Feedback resulted in some changes to plot and writing of a couple of extra songs as well as rearranging existing songs.
The dialogue rips along, the songs continue the storyline, and the music styles are varied. Its a boisterous show including a couple of romantic liasons and of course the drama of medieval London being destroyed by a massive fire which was considered the wrath of God for the loose morals prevailing at the time.
There’s innovative lines including historical content such as quotations from diarist Samuel Pepys and a section covering comment on Shakespeare who died 50 years previously.
Come along to our Auditions over two weekends in Takapuna. Sat & Sun 7/8th May and Sat & Sun 14/15th May – Saturdays 1-5pm and Sundays 3.30 to 6pm. Bring music, either sheet music or mp3. We’ll have an Audition pianist and amp available.
