Small short film production is looking for actors, actresses and extras for a project focusing a young returned Australian Soldier and his battle with PTSD.

PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of a life-threatening events such as military service or combat. In Australia, since 1999 the number of Australian soldiers killed while on active duty is 46, while the number of returned Australian soldiers who have taken their own lives is 239. The short film ‘INVISIBLE WOUNDS’ has been created to raise awareness and prevent the concerning incidences of suicide for returned Australian servicemen.

Filming is to take place on the Gold Coast and we are looking for a number of actors to fill roles including the LEAD and SUPPORT roles, as well as unpaid extras. The LEAD and SUPPORT roles will be paid jobs. Crew consists of mainly ex-film students from Brisbane and Melbourne, script has been written in consultation with three actual Australian returned service personnel.

Auditions for successful applicants will be held on the Gold Coast on 16-18 and 21-23 March.

DAVE

Dave is a returned Australian soldier.

He is an alpha-male, strong and confident. He loves his beer, his sport and his mates. Dave is secretly battling depression. While he is a loud Aussie-larrikin on the outside, he is numb and despondent on the inside. Much of his inner-self is locked away from the world, but we gain a better understanding of Dave’s mental character through voice-over. There is nudity in a shower scene. This is a LEAD role, paid at $1500 on commencement of filming.
