Title: Drag Queens Required for Documentary

[sociallocker id=”6513″]

We are a small group of final year Film Production students, looking towards producing our final major project – a documentary which will focus on drag queens, and challenging the general public’s perception of them. For this, we are really keen to hear from drag queens who feel they are misinterpreted, and who have a strong backstory of their own which they wouldn’t mind sharing on camera. This could be something such as battling for years between living a life during the daytime, where no one or certain people who they are close to, knows anything about them being a drag queen, and their enjoyment in the act during the evening. It could also be a personal story of why you chose to become a drag queen, and how this has affected you/your life as well as how you are perceived for doing it.

Because we are at the early stages of planning at the moment, we are really keen to hear from any drag queens who feel that they have a personal story that they’d like to share in order to raise awareness on the subject, or who just simply feel misinterpreted and want to challenge the way people perceive them. Although we are based in Sheffield, we are prepared to travel and will reimburse any transport/catering costs on all of the scheduled filming dates (which are to be decided nearer to the time and will be flexible – but will be from mid September 2015 until early 2016) We are also more than happy to answer any questions that you may have and are open to new ideas/suggestions at the moment (As the subject is new to us so we are carrying out a lot of research!)

We look forward to hearing from you – this is a project we all feel passionately about, and which we would like to share the finished version of online, with the additional aim of entering it into film festivals to make a difference.
