Mare Nostrum Elements is selecting male dancers for Emerging Choreographer Series 2017.

ECS is a 7 week space grant/development/showcase program aimed at providing emerging choreographers with the tools and the means to create, develop and premiere a new finished choreographic work. ECS strives to provide a nurturing, non-competitive and learning environment not only for the participating choreographers but also for all dancers involved.

Dancers will have the opportunity to

– Rehearse weekly with designated choreographer
– Participate to selected studio showing
– Participate to a mid-term feedback session with professional choreographers.

Six different choreographers will be casting their piece.
Dancers can audition for more than one choreographer.
Each piece will be casted based on choreographer/dancer mutual interest and schedule compatibility.

Choreographer: Jacqueline Dugal
Style: Contemporary Modern
Seeking: 2-4 dancers – any gender
Notes: Seeking 2 to 4 dancers who are comfortable with improvisation, floor work, partnering, and being part of the collaborative process. For further reference,

Choreographer: Jiemin Yang
Style: Contemporary
Seeking: 1 female and 2 male dancers
Notes: Dancers must have excellent contemporary/modern technique with an artistic mind and excellent performance quality. Must be comfortable with floor work and partnering. And must be open-minded and committed to the experimental and creative process. Should be genuine, organized, and nice to work with!

Choreographer: Jacob Kruty
Style: Modern/Contemporary
Seeking: 1 dancer – any gender
Notes: Looking for one dancer with strong technique and a creative mind. Must be willing to interact with a camera on stage.

Choreographer: Carmine Caruso
Style: Contemporary
Seeking: 2-4 dancer – MALE ONLY
Notes: Looking for dancers with strong stage presence who can improvise. This piece might include some floor work, emotional explorations and speaking on stage therefore dancers with all or some of these skills are a big plus. Actors with some dance experience are also encouraged to audition.

Choreographer: Patrick O’Brien
Style: Contemporary
Seeking: Dance artists of any gender identification
Notes: Artists must be confident in improvisation, partnering, and extensive floor work. Dancers must have a strong, grounded sensibility in the lower body in order to achieve intricately detailed movement in the upper body. The work requires personal knowledge of connectivity, fluidity, and proper use of momentum. I’m looking for a willingness to explore a concept by performing collaborative, physical research that exhausts an individual idea until all possible outcomes have materialized.
