Cheap Cuts Documentary Film Festival is a new and emerging festival dedicated to showcasing the best of British and international short documentary talent. We strongly believe in content over form and are interested in the stories filmmakers have to tell and not the equipment or budget used to do so. Cheap Cuts believes that film should be accessible to all, both sides of the camera. In addition to our screenings, we will also be holding workshops with the local community to encourage and promote documentary filmmaking. Alongside the workshops, we will run several discussion groups/Q&A’s and hold at least one masterclass with a renowned documentary filmmaker.
We are looking for a confident, creative, logistical, calm and friendly person to come onboard the festival with us from now until the event itself on April 2nd & 3rd 2016. There are two of us acting as festival producers and we are also the founders so are very over loaded with work at the moment. We need someone to help us handle the production side of things from here on out. This will include, but is not limited to:
Arranging volunteer schedules, who needs to be where at what time Arranging transport for equipment to be delivered and collected for the event To liaise with any press coming to the festival Handle petty cash Source equipment Help with set up of equipment Source team members still outstanding Promote the festival through social media, word of mouth etc Liaise with filmmakers attending the event Dealing with paperwork, release forms, insurance etc
This is both a logistical and creative role. We are a small team of volunteers and nobody is receiving payment for their involvement, so it is vital that you are interested in film festivals, documentary and production and that you are doing this to gain experience in the area and because you have a passion for it. We are a lovely team (we think) and this will be a great festival but needs all hands on deck in this final month before the launch.
If you are able to get involved asap until 4th April, get in touch! Must be London based. We live in North East and the festival is in Hoxton. This will be fairly full on for the next 6 weeks, but it’ll be fun…promise! No set hours, but as much as you can commit would be great. You can easily work from home, you just need a laptop, a phone and to be on the ball! You are welcome to work from our office/home on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays if you want to take advantage of our wifi, unlimited tea & coffee (and biscuits) and play with our wonderfully weird cat, Pam.
You must be a nice person. You must not be an awful racist, homophobe or general prat.
Please read about our festival before applying – it’s really important to us that you understand the ethos of the festival and that this is a project you are able to take on.
Expenses for the festival dates will be covered. You’ll also be fed. You’ll receive full credit as Production Manager (title tbc after we discuss what works for you and us) and you’ll be part of something long lasting. You’ll also get a proper reference from us afterwards for any other jobs and roles you take on.
What part of London are you based in?
Are you free 2nd & 3rd April, all day?
