TITLE

AD: Brooklyn College/CUNY MFA Acting Program

DESCRIPTION

The MFA in Acting at Brooklyn College/CUNY is a two-year program rooted in the work of Stanislavski and Michael Chekhov with special attention given to the development of a deep mind-body awareness in each actor and a nurturing of each actor’s individual process. We encourage the actor to acknowledge and confront the self through release of physical, emotional, and psychological tensions and holding patterns, in order to reveal the full creative potential of the actor’s imagination, impulses and to allow for authentic, truthful expression.

We look for actors who are diverse, multicultural, and come from a variety of experiences: the more variety our student body brings to the program, the more exciting the work that can be created, in class and on stage. We are interested in the personal story of each individual as well developing an ensemble in each class. We seek individuals who are socially conscious, disciplined, and hungry for a new experience; individuals who desire a guided opportunity to look into themselves through varied techniques and skills that form the foundation for the acting craft.

By appointment auditions will be held on Saturday, January 28th at Ripley Grier Studios, 520 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10018. For more information on how to apply and schedule an audition, visit: http://depthome.brooklyn.cuny.edu/theater/programs_grad_mfa_acting.html.
