Digital Media & Archives Intern – Spring or Summer
For nearly a century, the American Theatre Wing has been tirelessly committed to championing and honoring American theatre by celebrating excellence and by providing unique educational and access opportunities for those on the stage, behind the scenes, and in the audience. By co-producing the Tony® and Obie® Awards, developing educational programs, and through the distribution of grants and awards each year, the Wing is dedicated to preserving the past, celebrating the present, and fostering the future of American theatre nationwide.
The Wing’s Digital Media Department seeks an intern to help with the research and cataloging of our extensive media library (over 800 hours) of content. Duties include identifying and cataloguing video content, digitizing archival media, managing the internal database, and transcribing audio and video content. Internships would cover either spring or summer semester.
Basic Skills Required:
A flexible self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.
Comfortable in a fast paced environment, eager to learn and ready to jump in wherever needed.
Internships demand meticulous attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Passion for and knowledge of the American theatre.
Highly motivated with an enthusiasm for learning.
Specific Skills required: Proficiency in social media platforms, YouTube, MS applications, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and/or other editing software. WordPress and iTunes skills a plus but not required.
Every intern will assist with all aforementioned tasks for their department, in addition to gaining valuable experience by working closely with Wing staff members and, when possible, attends meetings, special events, and theatrical performances. Internships are part-time volunteer positions with a minimum commitment of two days a week in-person at our Midtown office. Reimbursements for travel and food are provided and school credit can be arranged. The American Theatre Wing is an equal opportunity employer.
