Male, 30-late 40s
Act 1: A painter obsessed with his art at the cost of his personal life. Passionate about his work but emotionally distant and unable to connect with people. Act 2: Seurat’s burnt-out descendant and inventor-sculptor searching for meaning and purpose; tenor, Ab4-G#2.
**May be asked to come on contract on May 18th.**

[DOT/MARIE]
Female, 20-40.
mezzo-soprano, D5-E3. Dot is George’s lover and model. She is independent and knows her own mind. Marie is George’s elderly wheelchair-bound grandmother.

[OLD LADY/BLAIR DANIELS]
Female, 60-80
mezzo-soprano, Eb5-F#3. Old Lady is George’s mother, a cranky and rather demanding figure, heartened by nostalgia. Blair Daniels is an art critic.

[JULES/BOB GREENBERG]
Male, 35-50
baritone, F4-G2. Jules is a successful, thought conventional, artist and rival to George; pursues Frieda. Bob Greenberg is a museum director.

[BOATMAN/LEE RANDOLPH]
Male, 35-60
baritone, Eb4-Eb2. Boatman is a gruff and sour blue-collared laborer, blunt with the potential for violence. Lee Randolph is the museum’s publicist.
