Film, photography and animation students from the Manchester School of Art are collaborating to create a short film of a modern interpretation of the ballet ‘Giselle’. This experimental and artistic piece will follow the emotional journey and development of the character Giselle through the ballets two acts.

With the brief and main theme for the project set by the English National Ballet, the work will be exhibited in May and there will be an opportunity for the strongest responses and pieces of work to be developed further for an exhibition curated by Tim Yip in September.

Auditions are not necessary however we would like to see a showreel.

Shooting will take place between Monday 25th April and Friday 29th April (More specific dates and times to follow shortly)

With the possibility of two extra days of shooting on the 5th and 6th of May.

Lead role – Giselle

Giselle falls in love with Albrecht, who later betrays her and she dies of a broken heart. Upon her death, she enters the realms of the supernatural in the underworld. The ballet ends with Giselle making the ultimate sacrifice and as she forgives Albrecht and forgoes her life to protect his.
