I am looking for diverse male and female performers for an upcoming performance on April 15th at the Center for Performance Research. Performers should be comfortable with partial nudity. Rehearsals will be held Sunday evenings from 7-10pm, and Tuesday monrings 9-11am, as well as a couple Saturday late afternoons, up unti lthe performance. I am looking for performers wiht a background in contemporary or classical dance, physically-rooted theater, and/or performance/martial arts practices. This project could lead to an invitation to be in Kerr’s company and to work on future projects.
I create interdisciplinary performances and experimental films. I present my work in galleries, theaters, and public places. In my film projects, I work through the mediums of 16mm, digital, and Super 8. I am interested in the tensions of personal experience: being a part of a temporal situation and existing within the web of society, and yet also having the capacities to imagine, remember, and dream. To expose this dissonance I often interweave familiar elements with the unfamiliar, unsettling the usual with the existential. I often combine film and performance mediums to embody the contrasting dynamics of personal experience. Some of my pieces have roots in questions regarding identity and gender, and through the movement of a vulnerable and delicately absurd body I make physical the psychological effects of being read in the world as “Other.” My work ranges from solo work to group performances and to work involving performers of various ages and movement backgrounds.
