Format: 10 Minute Short Film | Genre: “A Capella” Musical Comedy

AUDITION TIME: Thursday 11 February, from 6:15pm

Jimi Jupiter, a musician who sold his soul to become an advertising jingle writer, is desperate to win his next client but soon finds his style cramped by his four Soul Characters (Heart, Brains, Nerve and Imagination), who try to convince him to return to his musical roots mid-pitch. Oh yes – and Jimi is the only one who can see them.

In general:
• Each character must appear to be between 30 and 45 years and be relatively fit as these are active characters.
• Ability to work as part of tight ensemble and good comedic timing is critical.
• Dancing not required.
• You must be available all day for the main rehearsal and shoot from Friday, March 18 – Sunday, March 20 in Civic, Canberra. Up to 2 evening rehearsals will also be scheduled prior to those dates in agreement with cast members.
• You may be asked to provide generic items of your own costume.
• A $500 flat fee will be provided upon invoice to cast members once shooting has completed.


Vocal: Baritone/tenor. Comfortable with a high G. If you are able to do an A, we are likely to use it.
Character: High energy, physical, cheeky, full of (sometimes) good ideas.

Vocal: Bass/baritone. Able to sing and project a low F comfortably.
Character: Caring, compassionate, often plays the ‘straight man’.

Vocal: Alto, with a chest voice C or D available. No ridiculous belting required.
Character: High-strung, anxious, but can pull it together when needed.

Vocal: Mezzo or soprano, with a high A or Bb if needed. No crazy high notes required.
Character: Direct, logical, cynical, excellent bullshit detector.

Please present a song of your choice, up to (approximately) 3 minutes in length and a 2-minute monologue, preferably comedy that reflects the character(s) you are auditioning for.
