Title: Actor Wanted for Short Film in Victorian Country Town

Sam is a young man who is coming to terms with the death of his mother. His bereavement is compounded by the arrival at his mother’s funeral of his longterm MIA father, Peter.

Unbeknownst to Sam, his mother has not only played matchmaker – encouraging a relationship with a local barista, Leo – she has also orchestrated the appearance of her ex-husband Peter in an attempt to tie up loose ends for Sam so that he can finally move on with his life.

“Always” is a beautifully poignant short film written by award-winning actor (and now screenwriter), Ajay Banks, dealing with love, loss and new beginnings.

Shoot Dates: 23 & 24 October
Location: Mansfield, Victoria (just over 2 hours from Melbourne)

Unpaid, however reasonable fuel costs will be paid. Accommodation and all meals provided.

Peter is a successful recording artist. Although he felt deeply in love with Emma, he never felt like he was husband or father material. Encouraged by Emma, Peter left to pursue his dreams. In doing so, he not only left behind Emma, but also his only child, Sam.

It’s been 15 years since Peter saw Sam in person. Peter has always felt a sense of guilt and shame at abandoning his family. He sees this opportunity – at Emma’s funeral – to reconnect with his boy.
