AUDITIONS for UNCSA SHORT FILM – “TIN MAN”
UNCSA Student Short – “TIN MAN”
Searching for passionate talent for these four roles:
ALEC (Male, 28-35): There have always been two sides to Alec. On one side he is an easygoing, compassionate, gentle person. He enjoys company, exercise, challenges. The other side, however, is one he tries to keep buried: anxiety, self-deprecation, insecurity—all seeds of his childhood. With the onset of fatherhood, this hidden side has slowly but surely made its way to the surface, and now he fears it will drown him, or worse—his family.
VAL (Female, 28-35): Val is a gentle and understanding woman, and her presence tends to calm those around her. She has wanted to be a mother for many years, which renders Alec’s hesitations justifiably hurtful, yet her knowledge of Alec’s past and her natural compassion diffuses most of any anger she might feel. She knows Alec would be a wonderful father, and she wants nothing more than to help him to become one.
MOTHER (Female, varying age): Alec’s mother appears in the memory of Alec’s father leaving, and no other memory is better fit to illustrate her role in Alec’s life. She may be crying, but she does not need support. She see’s the coward Alec’s father has become, and she wants him out of their lives. She embraces Alec in a compassionate, steadfast hug—she will be his protector: independent, determined to raise him into a happy and respectable man.
FATHER (Male, 30-35): Stern in the face but weak in the soul. He may seem cold, emotionless, but these are the signs of a broken man.
Perhaps he doesn’t feel much as he abandons his family, but perhaps he hasn’t felt anything for a very long time.
