I’m an independent filmmaker, professional cinematographer and film scholar, currently doing a practicebased PhD focused on experimenting with film performance. The title of my film project is: “Between structure and the moving body: searching for Affective Signs in film performance.” (I will be happy to share with you much more information later).
I’m looking for charismatic and interesting actors or firsttime actors (of any appearance or nationality) who are interested in this exciting, experimental and creative collaboration. Scenes for the film will be devised around and inspired by the particular cast of actors selected. The key aim of the project is to produce powerful moments of cinema that combine striking cinematography with exceptional performances: therefore, this will constitute perfect showreel material for you.
The production dates are negotiable, and your level of commitment also: you can take part for one day only or for several weeks. Unfortunately there is no payment available, as this is a student production, but you will have access to all the footage we produce, receive a copy of the final film, and, if your involvement is significant, I will be happy to personally edit the footage into showreel material based on your requirements. The film is also likely to make a mark within the arts community, so it might be an interesting exposure for you, and you would be invited to attend any screenings of the film. I will also provide food and drinks during production, and, if we ever venture outside Greater London, I would of course take care of the transport (and accommodation if required).
In a nutshell, this is an unpaid creative collaboration with an experienced film director with a strong artistic vision, who will help you deliver exceptional performance and frame it in beautiful cinematography, but who will also provide genuine and honest support in whichever way possible.
