Company: Designated Movement Co
Location: New York, NY
Join dance theater company Designated Movement Company in this three-hour workshop as we immerse students in the company practice for making rigorous, complex, and rewarding performance. Led by artistic directors Katie Rose McLaughlin (choreographer) and Dan O’Neil (playwright), this workshop will share both the company’s collaborative methods for creation as well as their unique approach for combining dance and theater to make some wholly new and different. We will explore the outer limits of what theater can achieve when freed from text-driven narrative and given informed bodies instead. What happens when text becomes movement and movement becomes text? This workshop is open to dance artists of all disciplines and anyone interested in how and why we work. Perfect for emerging choreographers looking to jumpstart their creative practice. Please wear clothes you can move in and socks or barefeet.
Pre-registration for this workshop is manditory. We are also offering limited need-based scholarships, please inquire. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email email@example.com or visit our website: www.designatedmovement.org
