Screen tests will be held in Melbourne in April at a date TBC.
Set in rural Australia in the early 1990’s, The Queen Of Heaven is a metaphorical exploration of grief and love. A young man, Sam, is left devastated after his partner Violet suffers a near-drowning, leaving her comatose. Unable to face the prospect of life without her, he does something horrifying and unforgivable.
Our vision for the film is to blend realism and surrealism. The story is character driven and observational, but also at times dreamlike and bizarre, with elements of horror and suspense.
We aim to produce an original, gripping and heartbreaking piece of Australian cinema. We are a highly creative and ambitious team, and we’re searching for a performer who is equally motivated to help us bring this story to life.
If any actors are interested in auditioning, please apply here.
Please note that we require applicants to have a showreel.
This role is open to actors aged 20 – 30 of any ethnicity/background, and they must be comfortable with channelling extreme emotions as the character’s journey is quite intense.
Once we have cast the lead male character, we will be producing further promotional content to supplement our funding process, with an aim to begin production later this year.
We will send through further information about the character and relevant audition material upon receiving applications.
We’d also love to know what inspires you. In your application, please let us know what a couple of your favourite films are and why.
On the surface, Sam is the guy next door. Someone you could have known from school. Friendly and generally likeable. But when confronted with the loss of his love, Violet, a darker side emerges. Desperate and twisted by grief, he is pushed to breaking point.
Sam’s journey explores the ways death can change a person.
We have no physical requirements for this role and have deliberately left the ethnicity and appearance open because we’d like to see many different types of Sam.
