Title: “The Life of a Slave Girl” Seeking Lead Role

T.I.M. Productions announces an open casting call for its SAG-AFTRA feature film “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.” Casting directors are on a nationwide search to fill the lead role in the movie. Auditions are being held in Edenton, North Carolina on Saturday, August 20th. WSA Casting is looking for an African American teen who is at least 18 years old to play younger.
About “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl”
Storyline: Set during the late 1800s in Edenton, NC, Harriet Jacobs spent seven years hiding in her grandmother’s 7’ x 9’ crawl space to escape the tyrannical slave master who refused to stop looking for her. With a $100 bounty on her head offered by Dr. James Norcom, she escapes, writes her autobiography about the horrors of slavery and the abolitionist who helped her to freedom. The screenplay is written by Sakeenah Archibald and Stacey Harkless.
What They Are Looking For
We are looking to fill the lead role of the young Harriet Jacobs, a slender African American female. All actresses who submit must be over 18, but can portray a 15 year old,” said Casting Director Winsome Sinclair. “A photo of a younger Harriet Jacobs is unavailable.” The last known portrait is shown.

Please bring your headshots and resume with you to the casting call. Talent may be asked to read lines in front of the casting director, producers and writers. Open call auditions will be taking place on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from Noon to 5 p.m. at the Swain Auditorium, 200 East Church St. in Edenton, NC 27932. WSA Casting will conduct the process. There is no fee to audition. The casting call is open to the public. Filming is expected to begin in 2017 in the Edenton, North Carolina area.
